Ready, Set, Learn at Bastion Elementary
Bastion Elementary was buzzing with energy on Thursday, February 12, 2026, as 26 families gathered in the gym for an engaging Ready, Set, Learn event. Children moved from station to station exploring activities designed to spark curiosity, creativity, early literacy, and playful learning.
The gym was set up with a variety of hands‑on early learning experiences. Children prepared simple snacks, built with blocks and loose parts, explored pretend‑play materials, created artwork with craft supplies, and practiced counting, sorting, and fine‑motor skills through games and sensory activities. A cozy reading area invited children to gather and enjoy stories, supporting early literacy in meaningful and interactive ways.
Families also had the opportunity to connect with several community partners who play important roles in supporting early childhood development:
- Early Years Librarian with Okanagan Regional Library
- Family Navigator with Shuswap Children’s Association
- Community Dental Hygienist
Their participation gave families access to helpful information, community resources, and early learning supports available throughout the region.
It was a warm, welcoming hour filled with learning, connection, and discovery. Thank you to all the families and partners who helped make Bastion Elementary’s Ready, Set, Learn such a successful and engaging event.
