Principal’s Message

At Bastion we feel that it is an honour to work with each and everyone of your children.  We are a school that offers what we feel are two strong programs (both an English Tract and a French Immersion Tract) within one learning community. Our hope is that all students feel safe and secure and that they have a sense of belonging.
Our school location is ideal as our students have access to a beautiful forest where we are now building a lovely outdoor structure. This will be a wonderful outdoor learning space for students. Our school grounds, with its hills, forests, fields and playgrounds lends itself to many formal and informal learning opportunities.
As I walk the hallways and visit classes in our school, I am always amazed at the number of volunteers who help enrich the learning experiences of our students. We greatly value the work of our volunteers whether they be parents, grandparents, high school students or other members of the community who love to work with children.
It is truly a pleasure to work with a dedicated staff who put kids first and who are always seeking ways to make a difference. I look forward to continued discussion and professional development with teachers and support staff as we build our professional capacities and focus on our goals of problem-solving and wellness.
As a staff we endeavour to inspire and engage students so that they can find success and happiness as they pursue their learning journey. In partnership with families, we can provide the conditions for students to be curious, internally motivated and to find joy in lifelong learning.
