The Week Ahead for April 12th – 16th

Hello, Bastion Families!! With the sunshine and warm weather forecast for this week, we’re looking forward to getting the students outside to exercise their bodies and their brains.

So many students and staff members participated in Creative Hair Day, on April 1st. The students had so much fun showing how creative they could be with different hairstyles, colours, and interesting accessories. Some parents must have gotten up very early to help their children with some amazingly creative hair! Here is a photo of some of our Creative Hair Day participants.

Here’s what’s happening this week at Bastion Elementary…

Monday, April 12th

We hope everyone has a Marvelous Monday!!

Secwepmec Language Lessons. Ms. Sandra Eustache, our school district’s Teacher of Secwepmec Language, will be facilitating her final Secwepmec language lessons with five of our classes. She will be culminating her lessons with a display of Secwepmec cultural artifacts, to share with the students. We would like to thank Ms. Eustache for sharing her passion for the Secwepmec language and culture.

A big thank you goes to Monsieur Lazar, Mme Dollack and Monsieur Mueller for coordinating the Lunch runs and promoting fun and physical fitness. Lunch runs will take place every Tuesday and Thursday. If your child is planning on running at Lunch, please ensure your child comes to school with proper footwear for running.

SMS Grade 5 Scout Visit. Two of our Grade 5 students will act as “scouts” and visit Shuswap Middle School, along with some Grade 5 students from other Salmon Arm schools. The “scouts” will have a chance to explore SMS, take some pictures and ask some questions. Our “scouts” will then have a chance to report back to their Grade 5 peers, about what they learned during this initial visit to SMS. This is just the starting point, to help our Grade 5s have a successful transition to Shuswap Middle School.
