The Week Ahead for Dec. 16th – 20th

Monday, December 16th
Gym Decorating and Concert Prep.
The students are getting excited to perform for their families at the upcoming Winter Concerts. The classes will be practicing their musical selections and getting the gym decorated.

Tuesday, December 17th

Wednesday, December 18th
Winter Concert I.
All of our English classes, plus our French Immersion Kindergarten classes will be having their Dress Rehearsal at 8:30 am, with the main performance taking place at 12:45 pm. The Bastion Choir will also be performing at the afternoon concert. Gym doors will open at 12:15 pm.

Thursday, December 19th
Winter Concert II.
Our French Immersion Grade 1 – 5 classes will be having their Dress Rehearsal at 8:30 am, with the main performance taking place at 12:45 pm. The Bastion Choir will also perform at Thursday’s Winter Concert. Gym doors will open at 12:15 pm.

Friday, December 20th.
Last Day Before Winter Break.
On this last day before the Winter Break, all of the students and staff member are invited to wear their pajamas for Bastion’s traditional PJ Day!

On behalf of all the staff at école élémentaire Bastion Elementary School, we would like to wish our students and their families a very Merry Christmas. We hope you have a wonderful holiday season, as you spend quality time with family and friends. Remember to take time to create memories with your children, whether it is baking together, reading together, playing board games as a family, or building a family of snowmen; enjoy making the holidays special for one another. “It only takes a moment to make a moment.”

The Week Ahead for Dec. 9th – 13th

Monday, December 9th
Division 8 Field Trip.
Mme Genevieve’s class will be walking to Salmon Arm Secondary and watching the play Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which is being presented by the Grade 11/12 Theater Class.
Division 10 Field Trip. Mme Reid’s class will be going on a field trip to bring some holiday cheer to the residents of Arbour House. The students will be singing some songs and doing crafts, which will no doubt put a smile on everyone’s faces.

Tuesday, December 10th
Terrific Tuesday.
We hope all of our students, teachers and Bastion families have a Terrific Tuesday!

Wednesday, December 11th
Divisions 16 & 17 Field Trip.
Mme Heather and Monsieur Mueller’s Kindergarten Classes will have the opportunity to see the McGuire Lake art display at the SA Arts Centre. The classes will be walking to the Arts Centre and riding the bus back to the school. Please ensure your child is dresses appropriately for cold weather!
Division 2 Field Trip. Mrs. Kehl’s class will be going to the SA Curling Club for their second session of curling. The class enjoyed their first sessions, and they are very excited to go again!
Holiday Festival. The PAC is putting on a Holiday Festival on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. There will be a variety of stations for families to rotate through, including: cookie decorating, crafts, games, and storytelling. Thursday, December 12th
Grade 4/5 Rec. Swim.
All of our Grade 4/5 classes will be walking to the pool to enjoy a Rec. Swim. All students will need to remember their swimsuits and towels, as well as a toque/hat to wear afterwards.
Fun Food Day. Chicken nuggets and pizza will be enjoyed by all those who ordered for the month of December.

Friday, December 13th
Divison 2 Field Trip.
Mrs. Kehl’s class will be going for their third and final curling session.

The Week Ahead for December 2nd – 6th

Here’s what’s happening in the week ahead, at Bastion…

Monday, December 2nd
Scholastic Book Fair Begins.
The Scholastic Book Fair will take place this week, with the final day being Thursday, December 5th. Families and students will be able to visit the Library to look at and purchase books before school, at Recess and Lunch, or after school until 4:00 pm. Thank you for supporting our Book Fair and school!

Tuesday, December 3rd
New Learning Resource Teacher.
Bastion Elementary has received some additional Learning Resource Teacher time and our new LRT, Korrie Mueller, will begin today. We’re happy to have Mrs. Mueller join our Bastion team, to help support students!

Wednesday, December 4th
Poinsettia Pick-up.
Families and community members who purchased poinsettias, through our PAC fundraiser, can stop by the school between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm. The poinsettias can be picked-up in the gym. Thank you for supporting our PAC’s fundraising efforts, which supports activities and programs at our school!

Thursday, December 5th
Scholastic Book Fair Ends.
Sales for the Scholastic Book Fair will end at 3:00 pm. At 3:00 pm, the Book Fair will be packed up. Volunteers to assist Mme Murrells-Allaway pack up the Book Fair will be greatly appreciated.
Fun Food Orders Due. If you need to order for December’s Fun Food Day, today (Thursday) is the final day to submit those orders.

Friday, December 6th
Field Trip to Curling Club.
Mrs. Kehl’s Grade 4/5 class will be going to the SA Curling Club for their first of three curling sessions. Families can help their children get ready by having them practice sweeping up crumbs and dirt at home and yelling “Hurry Hard”!!
Choir Celebration. Mme Shannon has organized a pizza party celebration for our choir, to acknowledge all of the hard work the choir has been putting to practice their songs. The celebration will take place right after school.
