Saturday night’s earthquake was an interesting experience! With all of the speculation about what had happened and experiencing what a minor earthquake feels like, Saturday evening was pretty entertaining!
It’s hard to believe that we’re already into the month of March… time flies when you’re having fun! Here is what the week looks like for our Bastion learning community:
Monday, March 4th
Magnificent Monday. It will be a great day at Bastion!!
Tuesday, March 5th
Soccer Skills & Drills. Shuswap Youth Soccer has been touring to many of the elementary schools to promote the sport of soccer. Our students will be introduced to some skills and drills during a 30-35 minutes session, in the gym. Half of our classes will do a session on Tuesday, and the other half of the classes will do a session on Wednesday.
Grade 5 Girls’ Basketball. With the season coming to an end, the two Bastion girls’ teams will be playing each other in their final league game. Who do we cheer for?!?! We wish both teams the best of luck and we’re looking forward to a fun game.
Wednesday, March 6th
Soccer Skills & Drills. The second half of our classes will participate in the skills and drills today.
Art Fair Workshops. Approximately twenty of our Grade 4/5 students will be participating in various Art Fair workshops taking place at Piccadilly Mall. Some of the workshops include: leather work, watercolor techniques, artist trading cards, and pottery. We hope the students enjoy this experience! A big thank you goes to Mrs. Rosman who organized all of the students attending the workshops, and for putting together the Art Fair displays that are currently at the mall. If you haven’t had a chance to walk through the mall to look at artwork from all of our district’s elementary schools, please be sure to visit the mall before Friday.
Thursday, March 7th
Fun Food Day. It’s our monthly Fun Food Day where the students get a chance to munch on some pizza, veggies, and a cookie. We’d like to thank all of our family volunteers who come to help sort the food and deliver the food to our classrooms.
Grade 5 Boys’ Basketball. Both of our teams will be on the road this week. Mr. Mueller’s team will be traveling to Hillcrest, and Mr. Menzies’ team will be playing at Kings. Good luck, boys! Play hard and have fun!!
Friday, March 8th
Report Cards Go Home. Please be sure to check your son/daughter’s backpack before the weekend begins, as all students will be bringing home their report cards today. Please spend time talking to your child about the teacher’s comment, and celebrate areas where your child has show growth and success. Discussing areas where improvement is needed is also important. Each child should know his/her parents and teacher will work together to help the child continue to improve and reach his or her personal best. Please remember to return the report card envelope, with the cover sheet signed by a parent/guardian. Thank you!
